Ch 3, Part 2: The Emperor of Old Korvosa

A Night at Vencarlo's

The heroes rest the night in the Vencarlo's home and in the morning Laori raises Gritt from the dead.

They then wait the day out in Old Korvosa hoping to cross back to the main city under the cover of the darkness. While they wait they do some investigation around Old Korvosa but find little of interest.

That night they cross the river and see Field Marshal Kroft. They learn that the Sable Marines of been disbanded after the commandant tried to kill the queen. She was shot by a cross bolt through the eyes but it had no effect. Sabina slew the commandant and several of his retinue.

They also learn that Vencarlo knew something important and that he wanted to speak to the heroes. She also said that it would be best to flee the city because it was clear that the Queen was after them. She suggested that they find Vencarlo and help him escape to Harse. She also arranged the release of the Clerics of Shelyn so they too can flee.

The Emperor of Old Korvosa

They return to Vencarlo's home and find Laori busy torturing an intruder; they also discover she has another visitor locked away in the closet. From this they learn that the artist that Laori was searching for, definitely visited Vencarlo as did some other man that wasn't identified. They also learn that the intruders worked for some man known as the emperor. Likely another underworld figure.

They investigate the artists home and learn that he was forcibly abducted but find no further leads, though Mandraiv does make an impression on local lass leaving nearby.

They also each receive a Harrow card reading which predicts yet more turbulent times and that they would need to leave Korvosa to save it. Eventually they learn that the Emperor lives in Old Dock and they depart to pay him a visit.

They are accosted several times by his men but fight off each wave, Eventually they find his tenement which he has claimed as his palace and they fight theirway in,

They come face to face with not only the emperor but also Ernest Fyffe. The battle is short and bloody and the heroes emerge victorious.
