Part 5: The Dead Warrens

The Dead Warrens

The heroes progress further into the hidden complex and face stiff resistance from small deranged white haired dwarves called Derro. They use darkness spells to blind the heroes; but their little trick is not enough to fend of the heroes and they pay with their lives. During the sortie into the dungeon they face off against some magical snake guardians and an acid trap. The heroes prevail but are forced to withdraw to heal wounds and rejuvenate their spell casting power.

Their return trip to the inn is briefly interuppted by an Otyugh bursting out of the ground which the heroes kill with great efficiency. These beasts live beneath the city consuming garbage and other waste; so they serve a purpose but every now and then one escapes for a short but bloody rampage before being slain.

The heroes rest the night, but morning sees Gritt under the weather, with a bout of filth fever. This time he seeks healing at the Churh  of Saranrae; where the God of healing is much less mercenary with their spells.

In the meantime Gritt's interest in the God of Shelyn piques Sparrowhawk's interest; so she visits the shrine and asks to 'join up'. A young beautiful priestess is a little taken back by the burly woman and is unsure what to make of her ... or even if she is being sincere. Regardless Sparrowhawk promises to attend some informal sessions on art.

The heroes then return to their task at hand and reenter the hidden complex. They make short work of another Otyugh before fighting a protracted battle with a Derro alchemist.

Naturally the heroes are victorious. They also find a patchwork body; sewn together from many different bodies. The head is immediately recognised as belonging to Gaekhen; the corpse they have come to retrieve.

RP: No RP awards, it was mostly a session of combat, though Sparrowhawk was close, I just want to see where she is going with her new found deity that she didn't know the name of.
