Ch 2, Part 9: Saviours of the City

Victory

The heroes once more return to the underground temple of Urgothoa to cleanse it of its inhabitants; there they fight a number of battles, against zombies, the vampire and wizard and finally the high priestess. The latter two are difficult fights but the heroes are made of sterner stuff and emerge victorious. Slyvania proves her worth and surprises some with her competence; healing the party and uses her divine gifts to make fate favour the heroes.

Though the victory is not without a price, Sol was almost slain and Slyvana was able to bring him back from the brink of death.

Curing Blood Veil

The heroes find more information on the plague, detailed laboratory notes and formulae that give an insight into the creation of Blood Veil (and therefore a possible cure). Unfortunately they find no hard evidence implicating the Queen, except from the mouth of the now dead High Priestess. She claimed that she brought the disease to Korvosa and the command of the queen.

The following week is a time of rest and recovery, not only for the heroes but Korvosa itself. Without the Queen’s Physicians perpetuating the disease, it begins to come under control, there are less outbreaks; though the death toll is high. Furthermore Watson is able to use the notes to create a cure which is used to speed the city’s recovery.

Saviours of the City

During this time the heroes are well rewarded; for the news of their deeds have spread. They receive a small monetary reward, Field Marshal Kroft gives the heroes a choice of a magical weapon or armour from the City Watch armoury and finally the Queen herself is forced to publically acknowledge the heroes deeds and reward them with a sizeable writ that can be spent in Korvosa.
